Our Story

Jimmy G’s Pit Smoked Barbeque began simply from a desire to demonstrate the kindness of the Lord and from a simple interest in building community. Having been around BBQ for many years, I knew that it was something that Fremont needed to experience. So we began doing kindness projects through the New Hope Vineyard Church and fundraisers for local non-profit groups (including Bethesda Care Center, Habitat for Humanity, Liberty Center, Clyde High School and Old Fort High School.) We also started doing catering by word-of-mouth (wedding receptions, high school graduations, office parties, etc.) And we ended up doing the local Farmer’s Market in Fremont, raising money for world missions and selling out at each event.

The response has always been the same:

You need to do a restaurant!, Where can I buy your sauce?, I’ve had BBQ all over the country, but this is the best I’ve ever tasted!

I even had one woman tell me that she let her daughter know that all she wanted for Christmas was a jug of my barbeque sauce! We were all too happy to see that she had the best Christmas ever.

Literally thousands of people have already tasted Jimmy G’s Pit Smoked Barbeque. And people have been demanding that we go to the next level, so here we are, now open in our very own Jimmy G’s Pit Smoked Barbeque right here on State Street in Fremont, Ohio. All of the rubs and sauces are original to Jimmy G’s. But the techniques are not new—low and slow with indirect heat, using all-natural fruitwoods right here from Ohio. Yes, I brine my poultry and marinate the other cuts of meat for 24 hours. I even inject my pork. There are no short cuts to good barbeque. And that’s something that Jimmy G’s is proud of—taking the time to do things right is the only way to go.
